The Semi-final Tie Against Serbia Was The Toughest Of All: Mouma Das

Kolkata: The World Table Tennis 2nd Division Championship at Germany is now past for Mouma Das. She is concentrating totally for the Pre-Olympics and then if all goes well the Rio Olympics 2016. Mouma looks hopeful for both the events as she is going through a great phase.

Earlier, Indian Women’s Table tennis Team beat Luxembourg 3-1 in the final of the 2nd division World Table Tennis Championship to win gold. It’s a record for the Indian Women’s Table Tennis Team as they achieved this feat after 12 years. Manika Batra, Mouma Das and K. Shamini were the winners for the team.

Mouma was overwhelmed with joy after this victory. With this win India women’s Table-Tennis team have now qualified for the Championship division which is scheduled to be held after 2 years against Japan and Korea.

Mouma Das quoted as saying, “We have competed against some world’s best opponents. It feels good that we are an unbeaten champion. We had to face a lot of difficult opponents from Nigeria, Croatia, Serbia and they are ranked much higher than us. The Semi-final match against Serbia was the toughest of all in the entire tournament.”

On asking Mouma about their next tournaments, she replied, “Our next hurdle is the Pre-Olympics match which is starting from 13th April and will go on till 17th April.”

“The funniest of all is we will compete against each other (Manika Batra, K.Shamini and myself) in the Pre-Olympics and out of us any one will qualify for the Rio Olympics 2016.”, Mouma Das signed-off saying.
