The Return of My Childhood – Thank You Dada

Sourav-at-MCG

Here I am with my blog finally. It’s been on my mind for a long time but I didn’t really have any content to begin with. I was always certain that my first post should be about something that I love the most and it should be from the heart. The thing that I love the most in this world is my family and then there is someone whom I equally love the most. He is someone whom I always look upto for inspiration, determination and self confidence. Everyone in my family knows about the unmatched love and fondness I have for him. Everytime there is an update on him in the media, the first call or a message that I receive is either from my grandma or from my dad. They are the first ones to keep me updated on the happenings. I am so proud to be from a family that is so supportive of whatever I do. Just because I love him so much they take that extra effort to keep me well informed so that I will feel happy about it.

I am sure all of you would have guessed by now as to whom I am talking about, Yes, indeed it is the one and only Sourav Ganguly. Nothing in life gives me more satisfaction and joy than getting to see him on the field. That is how it has been for the past few days. Elated and Overjoyed.

It was in Mid October, the news of Dada playing this tournament was doing rounds. Even Dada wasn’t sure because of Mr. Dalmiya’s sudden demise. Fans were confused as to whether or not he will play. I was a bit disappointed, as this was the only chance we can see him play again. Hardly a week left for the tournament to begin and it was certain that he wont play. I was getting ready for office as always. It was on the 2nd of November around 7 in the night, I got a call from my twin brother Ashok asking me to switch on Headlines Today immediately and that there was a surprise waiting for me. I almost got out of the house while I was on a call, rushed back to see as to what it was.

I just couldn’t believe what I witnessed, Dada was all padded up in the nets and was in conversation with Mr.Boria Majumder talking about the preparations for the Cricket All Stars T20. I was over the moon, so happy. Yet again another one from my family broke the news.

For the next few days all that I was looking forward was to see some pictures and watch videos of Dada at the nets. Like the good old days I got very excited looking at each and every one of them. For me Dada has the most passionate fanatics for any sportsperson in the country. I am sure many would echo my opinion.

Dada left for US on the 9th for the 2nd and 3rd game. Even though Dada didn’t play the first game fans were in full flow at Citifield, NY with Banners of Dada. Here are a few from the first game.

I always have this habit of taping all matches/videos of Dada and keeping it as an archive, right from his early cricket days to the current ones. I have over 50 GB of Dada videos in my archive now. I was eagerly looking forward to tape this as well.
