Xtra Time Web Desk : Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday lost to Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea by a comprehensive margin of 2-0 in the first leg of the League Cup Semi Final. And after the match, Spurs’ newly appointed high profile Italian manager Antonio Conte spoke out in an explosive manner about his own club.

In a post match interview, the Italian said, “From the start Chelsea showed to be much better than us. The first half we struggled a lot, but we know we are talking about one of the best teams in the world, and if you compare it to our team, there is no comparison. Today we’ve seen the difference between the two teams. I know the situation, it’s very clear, there is an important gap,”

Stating about the club’s future and their position in the transfer market, Conte added, “We need time and patience. Everyone has to have patience. Tottenham in the last years, the level has dropped a lot, so now we have to fight to win every game. We have to be humble, and continue to work. It is not as simple as going to the transfer market. It’s impossible to change it in one transfer market. We have to try to fight to stay in a good league position, but if we think we are close, we’re not in the right way.”

The last trophy Conte won in England was the Premier League in 2017, with his former club Chelsea. And now, with Tottenham stepping on to their 14th year without a major trophy, it will be interesting to see how the Italian manager helps to club to revitalize their trophy cabinet.
