XtraTime Web Desk – The ISL Shield Champion Mumbai City took on last year’s Shield Champion in the first semifinal of this year’s ISL. The match ended 2-2 after a tough battle for 90 minutes.

Both the teams showed intent from the first whistle itself. In the 5th minute mark, Amrinder saved Saviour’s shot to keep the scoreline level. Not for long though. FC Goa earned a penalty after Mandar brought Jorge Ortiz in their D-box. Igor Angulo converted from the Penalty and Goa scored the first goal of the night.

Conceding the goal, Mumbai countered well. Dheeraj brilliantly denied Ogbeche’s powerful shot in the 26th minute to keep Goa into the game.

Again, not for long. Hugo scored the equaliser for Mumbai in the 38th minute mark and the match ended 1-1 at the halftime.

In the second half, Saviour Gama scored for the Gaurs in the 59th minute to put the home team in front. Front just for 3 minutes though. The defender Mourtada Fall scored once again for City and brought Mumbai into level terms.

After a hardcore battle in the middle of the park for quite sometime, the match ended 2-2 and it’s all to play for in the second leg since the away goal won’t be counted this time. Who will be the first team to qualify for the final will be answered on Monday.
