Xtra Time Web Desk: Chetan Sharma led selection committee has shortlisted a 15 member India squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. The selectors have already met & taken inputs of both Indian captain Virat Kohli & Head Coach Ravi Shastri. They have finalized the squad for the marquee event in UAE starting from October 19. The official announcement will be made either on Monday evening or Tuesday morning depending upon the outcome of the fourth test match at the Oval.

The selectors already had a virtual meeting with both Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri. As per reports the discussion was more on a few spots as the core group automatically pick themselves. One of the major consensus was whether to pick Shikhar Dhawan or as the fourth opener. The selectors also discussed in details the role of Hardik Pandya as he is struggling with fitness and form. Washington Sundar’s availability was also discussed as the off spinner is recovering from a finger injury he suffered during the practice match against County XI at Durham. The off spinner had to miss the ongoing test series and will also ruled out of the remaining matches of IPL 2021 in UAE. The selectors are in two minds whether to include both Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar. Another key point that was discussed was how many reserve players will be taken to UAE.
