Xtra Time Web Desk: Shreyas Iyer is likely to be drafted in the main squad of Indian team for T20 World Cup 2021. The Delhi Capitals’ batsman is in the travelling reserves for Team India for the T20 World Cup. The sudden dip in form of Mumbai Indian’s trio has opened the doors for Iyer.

The recent form of Mumbai Indians’ trio Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav in the IPL 2021 has raised concerns amongst selectors. All three of them have been struggling with the bat in the recent IPL 2021 matches in UAE. The axe is likely to fall on Ishan Kishan. Ishan has managed 11, 14 and 9 in IPL 2021 second leg in UAE. He has averaged 13.37 in the entire IPL 2021 season so far.

Suryakumar Yadav also has hit a rough patch in IPL 2021. Suryakumar has scored 3, 5 and 8 in his last three innings. In IPL 2021, Suryakumar has averaged 18.90. Hardik Pandya’s fitness should be a concern for the Indian team management. The star all rounder has not yet bowled in IPL 2021 so far and has averaged a terrible 7.85 in eight innings with the highest score of 16. In Sri Lanka, he looked sluggish and didn’t bowl the full quota in the ODIs. With the bat, he had a poor run, scoring 19 runs in two innings and bagged just two wickets at an economy rate of 6.94. In the T20Is, he scored 10 and bagged one wicket with an economy rate of 8.50 in two overs.

The BCCI top hierarchy is unlikely to interfere in selection issues. As per multiple reports, Shreyas Iyer is being monitored as an option for Ishan Kishan
