Xtra Time Web Desk: Sunrisers Hyderabad’s young bowling sensation Umran Malik will be staying back in UAE as a net bowler for the Indian team during the T20 World Cup. The promising fast bowler from Jammu & Kashmir has impressed everyone with his raw pace in the ongoing IPL 2021 matches. He replaced T Natarajan after the later was found to be tested positive for COVID-19.

Malik made his IPL 2021 debut for SRH against Kolkata Knight Riders. In his first outing in IPL he grabbed the attention of everyone by clocking 151.03 kmph which was the fastest delivery by an Indian bowler in the ongoing IPL season. In the next match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Malik scripted history as he bowled the fastest ball ever in IPL by an Indian as he touched the speed of 153 kmph.

RCB and India captain Virat Kohli was quite impressed to see Malik bowl with great pace. According to Kohli, “This tournament throws up talent every year, good to see a guy bowling at 150 clicks [on Umran Malik]. It is important to understand the progress of individuals from here on. The pool of fast bowlers being strong is always a good sign for Indian cricket and whenever you see talent like this, you are going to have your eyes on them and make sure you maximize their potential which is already being seen at the IPL level,”

Former India pacer Irfan Pathan is credited for grooming Umran since 2018.
