Super Cup: Late winner from Laldanmawia sealed the semifinal spot for East Bengal

XtraTime Web Desk: Kolkata giants East Bengal have registered a nail biting 1-0 win over Aizawl FC today at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar to reach the semifinal of the Hero Super Cup.

Laldanmawia Ralte scored the winner for the Red & Gold Brigade through penalty in the 95th minute of the game and sealed the match in his team’s favour. In the 94th minute of the game Ansumana Kromah received a through ball from Mahmoud Al Amna. After he entered the penalty box, Aizawl goalkeeper badly fouled him and the referee didn’t hesitate a bit and awarded a straight penalty to East Bengal.

Everyone had started thinking that the game might go to an extra time, but the East Bengal players proved everyone wrong. Though the match may go in favour of the Red & Gold brigade in the 12th minute of the game. The referee denied a sure penalty which should be given to Khalid Jamil brigade. Aizawl defender tripped Al Amna inside the penalty box but the referee didn’t give a penalty to the side. The commentators too were convinced that was a penalty.

East Bengal star forward Dudu Omagbemi had the chance to become the Hero of the Match today, but he failed to convert the chances in to goals. At last the team management replaced him with Ansumana Kromah after which Dudu lost his calm as well.
