Internet Desk : Kings XI Punjab announced David Miller as their captain for the IPL season 9 . Miller replaces George Bailey who donned the captaincy last season. The franchise from Punjab finished at the bottom of the table in the last edition.

Miller has a fantastic T20 record. In 47 matches he has accumulated 1319 runs with an average of 42.55.  He has one century and eight fifties under his name. He also has to his credit the third fastest century in this format against Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2013 .

Speaking  about his new role Miller, who has been associated with Kings XI since IPL season 4, said: “I am honoured to lead the Kings XI Punjab squad this year. I would like to thank the franchise, promoters, management and all the team members for the confidence they have in me.”Kings XI have assembled an exciting squad with a good mixture of youth and experience and I am really looking forward to the opportunity that lies ahead.”
Kings XI coach Sanjay Bangar said he is confident about Miller’s potential as a leader.”I have watched David grow as a player. He has displayed outstanding batting abilities and a cool temperament in many high-pressure situations. I am confident in his potential to lead the boys this season,” Bangar said in a statement issued by the franchise.
