South Africa T20 League: Two IPL franchises interested in buying teams

Xtra Time Web Desk: In a bid to revive its T20 League, Cricket South Africa have sent a proposal to the IPL franchises to invest in their new T20 league set to be launched early next year. As per reports at least two IPL franchises are already exploring the possibility of investment in new T20 League in which has former IPL COO Sundar Raman has a stake.

This is the third time CSA is attempting to revive their T20 League. Chennai Super Kings is definitely one of the franchises believed to be interested in investing in the new T20 League, considering Sundar Raman’s association with the franchise. Another IPL franchise is also interested in having a team in the new T20 League.

The proposed T20 League comprising of six-team is planned for January 2023. The new league will have USD 2 million as Prize Money. The teams will have USD 1.5 million to spend on signing the players.

It is nothing new for an IPL franchise to have a stake in a foreign league. Mumbai Indians & Delhi Capitals have bought teams in yet to be launched Emirates T20. While Rajasthan Royals has investment in team in Caribbean Premier League. Kolkata Knight Riders & Punjab Kings owns teams in Caribbean Premier League.

If CSK confirms their participation in the South African T20 League than it will be their first investment in any foreign T20 League.
