Kolkata: Cricket Association of Bengal looking to introduce Bengal Premier League (BPL) in T20 format with six franchise team. U-23, U-19 players along with the senior players and the players from various parts of Bengal who will perform well will get chance to play in the league.

It will be like Indian Premier League as the players will be auctioned. It’s not new in India as Tamil Nadu and Karnataka started premier leagues earlier. CAB president Sourav Ganguly planed it and said, ” we are ready for it but,  we didn’t get time for that. Now,  we are planning to start the tournament from next season. Club cricket calendar will start with this tournament. ”

Senior players like Manoj Tiwary, Ashoke Dinda will play in the tournament but,  Wriddhiman Saha and Mohammed Shami will also play if they will not have any international duty. It can be a great platform for the young players to show their performances and it also can help them to find a place in an IPL franchise team or in Bengal T20 squad.
