XtraTime Web Desk: Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly looked unhappy with the selection of the team for West Indies tour as he asked a question to the senior selection committee by saying there are only handful of players who are playing in all formats for India at the highest level. Ganguly also looked unhappy with the absence of India's young sensation Shubman Gill & veteran cricketer Ajinkya Rahane in the ODI squad for India's upcoming tour of West Indies.

Ganguly said that the India selectors should be picking "same players in all formats" in order to help them gain confidence and rhythm and opined that selection is not about making "all happy".

Ganguly's comments come after MSK Prasad-led senior selection committee picked India's squads for the T20I, ODI and Test squads for the tour of West Indies that marks India's first assignment after World Cup 2019 in England. Barring Ravindra Jadeja, captain Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, no other Indian player features in all 3 formats for the West Indies tour.

While the likes of Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey were handed call-ups after their performances in the recently-concluded unofficial ODI series betweeen India A and West Indies A, the omission of Shubman Gill helped raise quite a few questions.

In fact, Shubman Gill was picked as replacement for KL Rahul when the latter was suspended during India's tour of New Zealand earlier this year. Gill has top-scored for India A in the unofficial ODI series, scoring 218 runs, including 3 half-centuries vs West Indies A.

"There are many in the squad who can play all formats ..surprised not to see shubman gill ..Rahane in the one day squad..(sic)," Sourav Ganguly wrote on Twitter.
