Kolkata: Former India captain and CAB President was amused by one of his favourite player and India test captain Virat Kohli’s maiden double ton against West Indies in the first test in Sir Vivian Richards Stadium at Antigua. The double ton from “Chiku’ was also a record itself as he is the first Indian captain to score a double ton overseas. He eventually perished immediately after the lunch after getting played on off the bowling of Shanon Gabriel. He scored exactly 200 runs which included 24 hits to the fence and faced 283 balls.

Sourav was quoted as saying, “Virat was excellent throughout the whole innings. He kept cool and composed his innings well. His temperament and footwork was terrific. The charm of test cricket will exist forever when you witness such great knocks from such great batsman.”

On the other hand, Sourav felt sorry for the inexperienced West indies bowling attack. On the Windies bowling he said, “In the 70s and 80s, the wickets in West Indies used a provide a lot of pace and bounce with some greatest of pace bowlers and batsman like Gavaskar used to face those bowlers and score plenty of runs. Then when we played in the 90s and 20s, we faced the likes of Walsh, Ambrose  and Bishop but now the bowling attack of West Indies has been the weakest of all with the wickets changing drastically and and becoming more spin friendly.”

Earlier today Kohli started his innings on his overnight score of 143* and looked confident from the start. He became the highest scoring Indian captain in West Indies when he reached 150 runs,  going past the previous mark of Rahul Dravid. But he went from strength to strength as the innings progressed taking on Holder and co with subtle ease.

Much to the disappointment of the Indian fans, Kohli’s innings was watched by not more than 2000 people . The stadium wore a deserted look as he took a single off Roston Chase to reach his milestone. The few thousands at the ground gave a standing ovation to the Indian captain as he went to the lunch undefeated.
