Kolkata : Mohun Bagan supporters and fans will be anxious about the recent development surrounding the arrival of their star footballer Sony Norde . A recent post by the Haiti international on social network has led to the speculation . Norde has written on his facebook wall “ It’s good to play in Mexico again .”
Norde was busy playing for his national team in the qualifiers of the Centennial Copa America Cup scheduled to be held in United States later this year . Norde did not feature in the Haiti playing eleven that defeated Trinidad and Tobago 1-0 on Friday to secure a berth in the Centennial Copa America . Mumbai City FC defender Frantz Bertin played the full 90 minutes as the side started their journey under new coach Patrice Neveu. Mohun Bagan’s star attacker Sony Norde stayed on the bench .
Coach Sanjay Sen is in dark as to when Norde will be arriving . But the Bagan coach didn’t seemed to hide his frustration ,“ I do not have any status on Norde . I am not too concerned either about who is coming to play for us . I will only think about him , once he turns up for us . I plan my strategy according to the players available to me . ”
Sanjay went on adding “ At times it does get frustrating to be asked when Norde is joining the side . With due respect to him ,I still maintain he is one among the 30 players registered with Mohun Bagan .”
Meanwhile Bagan officials are still hopeful of Soni joining them . According to a top official ,“ What Sony tried to mean was that the Copa America matches will be played in Mexico . Since Haiti have qualified , so Norde and his team will be travelling to Mexico to take part in the Copa America final round matches .”
Mohun Bagan started their I-League campaign with a 3-1 win against Hero I League debutants Aizawl FC and were anxiously waiting for the arrival of Norde who was supposed to join the squad on Monday .
