The 15th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to begin from March 26, and all eyes will be set to watch Kolkata Knight Riders locking horns with Chennai Super Kings.

In a conversation with the former Australian cricketer David Hussey, he was asked that having picked Shreyas Iyer ahaed of Pat Cummins as a KKR captain, what is the idea behind it and what does the franchise expect of him in the comming years.

He answered, “Shreyas is a born leader, the way he walks out and the way he commands is magnificiant, he also got respect from all the players. I know Pat very very well and I think he would be a good deputy, a good leader amongst the group and would also lead the team from the front but why Shreyas is because as captain from the past Delhi Capitals, he has got a very good cricket brain, he knows the vision of how to play the game and he is going to express himself very very well. I think it is a very smart move by bringing him in and by the management of KKR”

Hussey also talked about Ajinkya Rahane who is presently going through a bit out of form, that what role does the management have for Rahane and if he has a point to prove which will eventually help KKR.

He replied, “He has been a class player for over a decade for Indian Cricket, he has played for Rajasthan Royals pretty well and he also have 5-10 years left of International Cricket. He is a class player, except for the recent scores, he is trying really hard on himself to improve the game, and he is also going to to score runs and dominated in the IPL this year, he is also a leader amongst the group, he is a quality human being!’

Hussey was interrogated about KKR’s team formation this year which is a fine blend of some players who have been retained by the team from last year and some fresh faces as well, that what could be the possible surprise package for the opponent.

He answered, “Some of the targeted players that we had in the previous game in the IPL is because they know the game, the team the management, the system, and it would be an easy transition to educate the fresh players to come into the team but the new players coming in, is exotic, like fresh air coming in, it would motivate the players and lift the game to a new level, everybody wants impress in the IPL, its the biggest T20 tournament in the world, its very very exoting for all the players to play for the great franchise like KKR.
