Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India middle order batsman Shreyas Iyer was on Thursday successfully operated on his shoulder. The Delhi Capitals captain confirmed the news in a tweet. He tweeted, “Surgery was a success and with lion-hearted determination, I’ll be back in no time Lion face Thank you for your wishes,”

The 26-year old Iyer had suffered the injury on March 23 when he dived to stop a boundary by Jonny Bairstow off pacer Shardul Thakur. The injury not only ruled him out of the remainder of ODI series but also forced him to stay away from IPL 2021.

The injury also put Shreyas’ participation for English county side Lancashire. He was supposed to join the side from Manchester immediately after the conclusion of IPL 2021.

Following his injury, the BCCI had stated, “Shreyas Iyer subluxated (partially dislocated) his left shoulder in the 8th over while fielding. He has been taken for further scans.”

The 26-year-old is the captain of Delhi Capitals in the IPL. In the previous edition, Iyer led the franchise to the final of the tournament, but failed to cross the final hurdle, losing to eventual champions Mumbai Indians.

In Iyer’s absence the Delhi Capitals named Rishabh Pant as their captain.
