Image Source: 2gb.net[/caption] Internet Desk: Former Australian legend Shane Warne has expressed his desire to become the interim coach of Australia. Since Australia’s Head Coach Darren Lehmann will be travelling to India with the test team for its preparations for the forthcoming test series next year, Warne has expressed his willingness to become the interim coach during the three match T20 series against Sri Lanka at home.

According to reports, Cricket Australia is searching for a caretaker head coach for the three-match T-20 series against Sri Lanka as Lehman and many of the country’s main players will be in India for preparation of a Test series.

Due to a clash of schedule the key players like Steve Smith, David Warner and Mitchell Starc will miss the three-match series against Sri Lanka at home. They will be in India with head coach Lehmann and the other support staffs for Australia’s four-match Test campaign.

Whether Warne would be handed the job for interim head coach is still not clear although it appears more likely that someone more experienced like Yorkshire coach Jason Gillespie may get the nod. The former Australian fast bowler is now leading Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League.

Warne, if interested, could be brought as an assistant with Pat Howard, similar to the way in which former cricketers like Brad Haddin and Ryan Harris have been added to the staff for next year’s one-day tour of New Zealand.

Warne, who has bagged 708 test victims has been critical of the Australian team and system many times. Last year he claimed that Lehmann was overstepping his responsibilities as coach. During the first test against South Africa he posted some harsh tweet about the Australian team.

"Aussies under fire, copping it from all angles and rightly so due to the way they lost in Perth," Warne tweeted on Wednesday.

"This will make the team gel together in Hobart."
