Xtra Time Web Desk: In what comes as a shocking incident, Chennai Super Kings’ opener Devon Conway was denied a review in the match against Mumbai Indians due to a power failure at Wankhede stadium on Thursday night. The South African born Kiwi opener was adjudged out in his first ball of the first over after Australian Daniel Sams trapped him in the pads. Conway challenged the umpire’s decision by taking the review, but the facility was not available due to a power failure at the stadium.

It was a shocking decision by the umpire as the ball looked to be going down the leg. But the New Zealander could feel let down as the Decision Review System was not available due to power failure.

Robin Uthappa also wanted to review his call immediately after being given out off the bowling of Jasprit Bumrah. While Uthappa’s wicket looked rather plumb, Conway certainly had a case if he would have been able to review.

Earlier in the game, the toss was delayed for several minutes as the floodlights did not switch on in time.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians had a dream start to the game as they reduced Chennai Super Kings to 78/7 off 12.2 overs at the time of writing this report. Daniel Sams was the wrecker in chief with three wickets while Riley Meredith took two wickets. Jasprit Bumrah took the wicket of Robin Uthappa.
