Sehwag forget to thank Dhoni after being felicitated by BCCI at Kotla .

DELHI : Sehwag forgot to thank Mahendra Singh Dhoni in his farewell speech at the Feroz Shah Kotla on Thursday . He thanked all the captains he played under but somehow forgot to mention Dhoni’s name . Whether it was intentional or not , is not clear though . One might assume , Dhoni is held responsible to some extent in cutting short Viru’s  international career  . Sehwag forced to retire from international cricket ,   In a hurriedly organized event before the test match , the former India opener was felicitated  by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) at his home ground  today  . He scored 8586 Test and 8273 ODI runs in a career which began in 1999.

BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur presented him a silver plaque commemorating his achievements . Sehwag was accompanied by his mother Krishna, wife Aarti and two sons on this proud occasion . The two ends of Kotla were named 319 and 309 in honour of Sehwag’s triple tons. The 37-year-old played for Delhi from 1997 to 2014 before joining Haryana.

Sehwag  in his brief farewell speech, thanked everyone from BCCI to DDCA to his first coach AN Sharma and Satish Sharma, who first picked him for Delhi U-19s. “I want to thank my father for allowing me to play the game of cricket and give me freedom to do whatever I wanted to. All my coaches, especially AN Sharma for making me the cricketer I am,” the 37 year old said. He also had words of gratitude for his close friends, including Delhi U-19 coach Raju Sharma. When it came to the captains, Sehwag said: “I want to thank my first captain Ajay Jadeja and other captains Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble. I want to thank Sachin Tendulkar.” There was no mention of Dhoni, though .
