Sania Mirza, Martina Hingis Storms Into The Finals Of Australian Open

Internet Desk : Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis stormed into the final of the women’s doubles at the Australian Open . The Indo-Swiss pair  made easy work of their semifinal opponents, Julia Georges and Karlolina Pliskova at the Rod Laver Arena to win their Australian Open semifinals with ease. This is the duo’s 35th win on the trot, as the pair haven’t lost a single match since last August.

The match which barely lasted an hour, saw Mirza and Hingis dominate from the word go, to win the match 6-1, 6-0 and reach the final of the first grand slam of 2016. They will face seventh seeds Andrea Hlaváčková and Lucie Hradecka who defeated the Y. Xu and S. Zheng in three sets.

Mirza and Hingis won 10 WTA doubles titles together in 2015 including two Grand Slams and the coveted year-end WTA championship, and are currently the number one team in women’s doubles, a feat made even more remarkable by the fact that the duo started playing together less than a year ago.
