Kolkata : Mohun Bagan’s new recruit Luciano Sobrosa got down to training on Monday . The Brazilian arrived from Sao Paolo accompanied by his family yesterday . Luciano was signed as a replacement for Haitian Judelin Aveska. Pronay Halder , who signed for Mohun Bagan from Dempo this season also joined the practice today.
Coach Sanjoy Sen seemed happy with Luciano’s fitness , “ He looked fit at the first day’s practice . He kept himself fit after returning back to Brazil ( played in the ISL for FC Goa) . I think he should be perfectly match fit ahead of the Salgaocar match .”
Mohun Bagan started their I-league campaign with a comprehensive 3-1 win against newbies Aizawl FC . It was awful defending from the Bagan defenders in the match against Aizawl FC . Bagan coach Sanjoy Sen expressed his dissatisfaction after the match . He has not yet decided whether he will be making any changes in defence or not against Salgaocar on January 16 .
Mohun Bagan will play against arch rivals East Bengal on 23rd January in the much anticipated Kolkata Derby. On being asked about the preparations for the upcoming derby the Bagan coach replied “Lets cross the bridge when we come to it”.
Sanjoy Sen also praised East Bengal for their come from behind win against Sporting Clube de Goa. “East Bengal have played brilliantly against SCG. It is not a matter of joke to win a match after conceeding a goal against a Goan club in Goa.”
Luciano is quite upbeat ahead of his debut with the Kolkata giants. “My personal goal is to win the I-league for Mohun Bagan supporters. I will share my experience with the junior defenders.”
“Barreto has called me after hearing I’ll be joining Mohun Bagan. I know what Barreto means to Mohun Bagan. I will try to give my hundred percent for Mohun Bagan ” the Brazilian added .
Pronay who was roped in by Mohun Bagan has a knee injury. Though he didn’t practice , he was seen doing some rehabilitation with Physio Garcia. “ Pranoy has a knee injury. It will take few more days for him to be fully match fit” according to Sanjoy Sen .
“Had Dempo not been relegated in the I-league I would definitely have played for them. Mohun Bagan have many variations in their midfield but I will try to leave a mark. I don’t see myself as a replacement for Sehnaj” the youngster signed off .
Meanwhile Manish Bhargav has injured his left leg in practice. He was seen limping off the field . The nature of the injury will be known only after getting his x-ray report .
