Rohit Sharma donates 80 lakhs to fight coronavirus pandemic

XtraTime Web Desk: Dashing Indian batsman Rohit Sharma on Tuesday donated INR 80 lakhs to fight the novel coronavirus pandemic. Out of the INR 80 lakh, Rohit has decided to donate INR 45 lakh to the PM-CARES Fund, INR 25 lakh to CM Relief Fund while INR 5 lakh each towards Feeding India and welfare of stray dogs.

I’ve done my bit to donate 45lakhs to #PMCaresFunds, 25lakhs to #CMReliefFund Maharashtra, 5lakhs to @FeedingIndia and 5lakhs to #WelfareOfStrayDogs.Let’s get behind our leaders and support them @narendramodi @CMOMaharashtra”: tweeted Rohit on Tuesday.


The Mumbai cricketer joins his captain Virat Kohli who on Monday pledged his support along with his actress wife Anushka Sharma. The couple contributed INR 3 crores to the Prime Minster and Maharashtra Chief Minster’s relief funds to combat the dreaded disease.

Among other Indian cricketers, former captains Sourav Ganguly and batting legend Sachin Tendulkar donated Rs 50 lakh each. Suresh Raina and cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambir also pledged Rs 52 and 50 lakh respectively.
