Rishabh Pant and Washington Sundar put India in the drivers seat after day 2

XtraTime Web Desk – A brilliant century from Rishabh Pant under pressure put India in a comfortable place after day 2. Not just Rishabh but Washington’s contribution has also been immense and without his knock of 60*, India wouldn’t have been in this position.

The top didn’t click once again. Rohit fought back but was dismissed by Stokes on 49. Virat Kohli failed to score a run as Stokes dismissed him with a bouncer. Rahane looked good but failed to convert his start and was dismissed for 27.

India were 80 for 4 and things were not looking good for India. India were still 125 runs behind and needed a strong partnership. That’s exactly what Rishabh Pant and Washington Sundar did. Pant’s 101 was very crucial for India. Their partnership for 113 runs changed India’s fate and India are leading by 89 runs at the end of days play.

The highlight of the day definitely belongs to Rishabh Pant. He played a reverse sweep of James Anderson’s delivery. This made it more special because Anderson was bowling with the new ball. Anderson nevertheless took 3 wickets for the team while Stokes and Leach picked 2 each. India are batting at 294 runs with 2 wickets in hand.
