Internet Desk: Abhinav Bindra loses his hope for a medal in his last Olympics as he finished fourth in the 10m Air Rifle event. 2008 Beijing Olympics Gold medalist once came from behind to be at the top three for quite a while but lost his way in the last shot in thetie-breaker round to finish fourth and end his Olympics career.

Bindra had shot 29.9, 30.2, 21.1, 21.5, 20.8, 20.2 and 20.1 in his first seven series of shots. In the shootout, he scored a 10.0 while that of Kulish was 10.5.

India’s shooting woes continue as after three days of action, only two shooters have reached the finals while none have managed to win a medal. Bindra and Jitu Rai are the only finalists while Gagan Narang, Heena Sidhu, Apurvi Chandela, Ayonika Paul, Manavjit Singh Sandhu, Kynan Chenai didn’t progress further.

In the qualifying round,  Abhinav Bindra qualified for the 10m Air Rifle event in a nail biting finish that saw him score 105.2 in the final series (total score of 625.7) with three 10.8 scores in the final five shots to climb up from 11th to inside the required top 8.

However it was commiserations for Gagan Narang who finished 23rd with a final score of 621.7. Higher up the order, Nicolo Campriani of Italy set a new Olympic record with a score of 630.2.
