File Pic[/caption] Internet Desk: The number of athletes leaving for Rio Olympics is increasing as the games is approaching closer. However, medal hope of India will increase or not will be a question. Yesterday Renjith Maheswary, Jinson Johnson and Dharambir Singh qualified from their respective events. Renjith Maheswary had the potential but some how it was not coming out of him. Yesterday he excelled himself to set a new national record. The triple jumper in his first two attempts jumped 16.55 m and 16.75 m.These two jumps were not up to the qualifying level of the Olympics’ standard. In the third attempt he passed the standard mark by jumping 16.93 m. In his fourth attempt he jumped 17.30 m which is not only a national record nut is the third highest jump of this year. In the 800 m sprint event Dharambir Singh is the second athlete to qualify for the Olympics 200 m event after 36 years. Yesterday he completed the 200 m in 20.45 seconds. This score gave him the berth for the Rio as the qualifying mark is 20.50 seconds. Another athlete to get the Rio ticket yesterday was Jinson Johnson. Last month he missed the ticket for Belgium falling short of 0.48 seconds. This time he made a timing of 1:45:93 seconds. The women’s 4*100m relay team already has qualified for the Rio. However, the team disappointed yesterday with a timing of 44.50 seconds. The same team scored 44.32s on Sunday to qualify for the Rio berth. The deterioration of the team can be a great concern for India.
