Rio 2016: Kidambi Srikanth easily won first group match

Internet Desk: Indian lone singles shuttler Kidambi Srikanth easily passed through his first group match. He won in straight set against Mexican opponent Lino Muzon.

From the beginning of the first set Srikanth was on the lead. The former world No. 3, with his variety of shots and accurate smashes, clinched the first game convincingly in just 16 minutes. The Mexican was totally failed to defend the smashes of Srikanth.

In the second set the Mexican tried to fight back. The Indian started to loosen up a little, ending up with a few unforced errors at the net. However, at the end he easily bundled the set getting his concentration back. Finally he won the match by 21-11 21-17.

He will play his next match against Henry Hurskainen of Sweden on Sunday. He would have one more match in his qualification round.
