Rio 2016: Ilori named Portugal captain in Olympics bound team

Internet Desk: Euro 2016 winners are not taking Rio Olympic seriously. Most of the footballers took part in Euro 2016 squad of Portugal are not named in the Olympic squad of the country. The 18 member squad declared by football authority of Portugal named only Andre Martins with the experience of playing in senior team.

The Portuguese team declared yesterday, have four new faces in their attacking squad. All of them are from local Portuguese clubs. Among the goal keepers Joel Pereira is from Manchester United and defender Tiago Ilori has experience of playing in Liverpool. Apart from them midfielder Andre Martins was in Portugal squad.

Rui Jorge has been named as the coach of the team. He selected Tiago Ilori as the captain of the Portugal squad for Rio Olympics. The team has been declared after a huge number of Portuguese players Raphael Guerreiro, Andre Gomes, Bernardo Silva, Joao Mario, Renato Sanches and Ruben Neves, all withdrew their names from the squad.

After winning the Euro 2016 the Portuguese satar players are not at all bothering of the Olympics. Last time Portugal did not qualify for the Olympics at London. Lastly they qualified in 2004 Athens Olympics. But that time also they were out after the 1st round. This time the Euro winners also have not much expectation from the Olympics.
