Internet Desk: Amidst the threats of militant activities bus carrying media persons was attacked by unknown source at Rio. Reportedly some sound of shots was heard and the window pens broke into pieces while the bus was traveling from Deodoro stadium area towards the main parking area.

The media bus carrying 12persons stopped as soon as the glasses shattered nearly at 7:30pm. Police escorts surrounded the car. However, the actual cause of the incident remained unknown. Brazilian police still did not say anything about the incident.

‘We were traveling from the hockey venue to the Main Press Centre. I was sitting at the back. There was a popping, cracking noise. People started shouting ‘just keep going’. After a couple of minutes we had a police escort”, said a photographer working for the Press Association.

No one was seriously injured in the incident and it was unclear whether the vehicle had been hit by shots or stones. Windows shattered and flying glass left two people with minor lacerations. However, some said that they were shot at.

Sheryl “Lee” Michaelson, a retired US air force captain who is working for a basketball publication told Reuters she could heard the report of the gun. “We were shot at. I mean we could hear the report of the gun. I heard two shots – like a pop-pop,” said Michaelson.

Mario Andrade, the Rio 2016 spokesman, said three journalists suffered minor injuries when the windows of their bus were shattered, but the cause remains unknown.

“We don’t know yet if it was stones or bullets. The police are investigating,” he said.
