XtraTime Web Desk: Will the newly formed ISL club ATK Mohun Bagan fans get an opportunity to see the club’s director and former India captain recreating the famous shirt waving moment after the Natwest final if the team goes on to win the AFC Cup next year. Ganguly’s shirt waving act at the Lords balcony after winning the Natwest final in 2002 is forever etched in the memories of fans.

During the first virtual board meeting of ATK Mohun Bagan on Friday, one of the directors Debashis Dutta did request Sourav to recreate the Natwest act. According to Debashis during Xtra Time Bangla Live You Tube show, “I requested Sourav to remove his shirt if we become the champions of AFC Cup . In reply he said he has no problem provided the other directors too have to do the same thing. Only that picture will come out in the following day’s newspapers instead of the players.”

He added, “Both me and Srinjoy requested Sourav to give his physical presence as well apart from his mental boost. He only went once to the stadium last season to watch ATK play. I requested him personally to come to the stadium on match days which he accepted. He seemed to be a lot enthusiastic.”

It has been a tradition of the 131 year old club to associate the names of famous personalities with the club. The current BCCI President is also the Hinorary Life Member of Mohun Bagan.

According to Debashis, “I have told him in the meeting that he is the most popular Bengali after Uttam Kumar. All the board members felt a similar passion and that it to take the club forward.”
