Reliance vs Amazon : It’s time for battle royal between two telecommunication tycoons for securing IPL media rights

Xtra Time Web Desk : It is once again going to be a clash of titans in the arena of cricket broadcasting as India’s most powerful businessman Mukesh Ambani is all set to clash with Jeff Bezos’ Amazon network for securing the Media rights of the Indian Premier League from season 2023.

The media rights deal which is all set to be a 5 year one as prescribed by the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) earlier, will see the telecommunication tycoons from all around the world compete for that price which could be a huge turning point in the history of Indian telecommunication.

With the Disney owned Star Sports owning the rights back in 2017 for a sum of $2.55 billion, the 9th richest man in the world in Mukesh Ambani is expected to outplay the former this time, with the main resistance coming in from the world’s second richest businessman in Jeff Bezos’, the chairman of Amazon Network Pvt LTD.

Apart from the Viacom 18, Amazon and Star, Sony Network is also expected to apply for the media rights alongside Netflix which too is expected to be outplayed by the big 2. However, whatever happens, the IPL 2023 media rights is surely going to set new milestones in the telecommunication history in India.
