Internet Desk: Former India captain MS Dhoni, who was conferred the Padma Bhushan award on Monday by the President Ram Nath Kovind shared a special message for the armed forces. Dhoni, who is also a Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army, was in army uniform to receive the award.
The World Cup winning captain took to the Instagram and thanked the armed forces for their exemplary services to the country and said that accepting the honour in his army uniform “increased the excitement tenfold”.
In his instagram post Dhoni wrote,“An honour to get the Padma Bhushan and receiving it in Uniform increases the excitement ten folds,” he said. The wicketkeeper-batsman further went on to express his gratitude to men and women in uniform for their sacrifices. “Thanks to all the Men and Women in Uniform and their families for the Sacrifices they make so that all of us could enjoy our Constitutional Rights. Jai Hind.”
The post also had the talismanic India captain wearing his uniform, holding his daughter who is wearing his army cap.
Incidentally, Dhoni was conferred with the prestigious third highest civilian honour of the country on the seventh anniversary of India’s famous World Cup triumph in 2011
