IOA may also ensure the medical fitness of the team/individual sportspersons prior to their departure”, said the Sports Minister.

Earlier, the presence of ‘extra officials’ in the Commonwealth Games-bound Indian contingent had become a major flashpoint between the sports ministry and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).

The IOA then on Thursday had said that Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore had assured it to have a re-look at government’s policy of not clearing ‘extra officials’ for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast.
