Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja took a stunning catch to dismiss Bangladesh wicketkeeper batter Mushfiqur Rahim during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 game at Dharamsala on Thursday. It was the 43rd over of the Bangladesh innings when the veteran Bangladesh cricketer tried to guide the ball at point only to watch Jadeja grab a sensational flying catch. After taking the catch, Jadeja was immediately seen signalling to the dressing room that he is a genuine contender for the best fielder medal which was introduced by fielding coach T Dilip.

After every match, T Dilip makes this announcement in the presence of the entire team in the dressing room. The first three medals were won by Virat Kohli, Shardul Thakur, and KL Rahul.

Virat received the medal for his brilliant catch at slip against Australia, while Shardul got one for his catch in the game against Afghanistan in Delhi. Wicketkeeper KL Rahul was awarded for his work behind the stumps in the match against Pakistan, when he dived full stretch to his left to take a catch.

There were three contenders for the best fielder medal in the game against Bangladesh. KL Rahul was again one of the serious contenders but since he won it in the last game, he knew it would go to Jadeja. Kuldeep too was brilliant on the field. But eventually the medal was given to Jadeja. And the announcement was made in a surprising manner as Jadeja’s catch was displayed on the giant screen.

Meanwhile, the Indian team will travel to Dharamsala on Friday for their next game against New Zealand on October 22.
