XtraTime Web Desk: The novel coronavirus outbreak has put on hold on all sporting activities across the globe including India. The pandemic has led to the closure of shopping malls, multiplexes, schools and colleges. The COVID-19 outbreak has also forced the postponement of new Bollywood releases and the film ‘83’ is also affected. The film’s main character Ranveer Singh, who portrays the role of Kapil Dev in ‘83’ has posted an update on the release date of the film. In his instagram post, Ranveer wrote, “83 is not just our film but the entire nation’s film. But the health and safety of the nation always comes first. Stay safe, take care. We shall be back soon!"

The film ‘83’ is directed by Kabir Khan and is based on the historic 1983 World Cup win by Kapil’s Devils beating the mighty West Indies in the final played at Lords. The film also stars Deepika Padukone playing a crucial role. But because of the outbreak of the coronavirus, it seems the audience will have to wait longer to catch this much-awaited film on the big screen. The film was planned to be released on April 10, 2020.
