Xtra Time Web Desk: It was a special evening at the University of West Indies Cave Hill campus for the 22nd Frank Worrell Memorial Lecture on Tuesday, July 25. The function was attended by Team India Head Coach Rahul Dravid and selection committee chairman Ajit Agarkar. The Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Mottley gave the lecture under the theme “Cricket Lovely Cricket – It is more than Bat and Ball". The Barbadian PM stressed building back up the business of cricket and renewing the focus on cricket’s role in uniting the Caribbean.

The Prime Minister stressed that it is necessary to bring into focus that all have to rally around the West Indies and stop playing the fool when it comes to this great sport and institution.

She added that the regional leaders need to break the status quo and bring equality in men’s and women’s cricket and must leverage the pedigree we have in this sector and build back up the business of cricket.

The Honourable Prime Minister hoped that by working together can do justice to the leadership and legacy of Frank Worrell, and help return West Indies cricket to its rightful place at the top and reunite the people of the Caribbean islands with the powerful medium of cricket.
