The installation of the cooling technology has also been done at the stadium situated in Doha. The Khalifa International Stadium in Doha was first built in 1976 and the seating capacity has now been significantly increased to more than 40,000 along with other things were renovated. The entire process of the renovation had a cost of £70 million. The Organising Committee of the 2022 World Cup said that the cooling technology will consume 40 per cent less energy compared to other cooling sources and will keep the temperature of the stands at 24-28 degrees while the temperature of the pitch would be 26 degrees. The secretary general of the organising committee, Hassan Al Thawadi, said: 'The completion of our first stadium more than five years before the Qatar World Cup begins is an important milestone that reflects our determination to deliver a tournament the entire Arab world is proud to be a part of. 'As we promised in our bid, our innovative stadiums offer an unrivalled experience to fans and players alike. I'm proud we can show these off to the world and welcome fans with the hospitality this World Cup will be remembered for.' The Khalifa International Stadium is scheduled to host the World Cup matches up to the quarter-final stage, the finals of 2017 Emir Cup final, Qatar's most prestigious domestic football would also be played here. The stadium saw a complete change in the dressing rooms, media tribune, VIP seats as well as the sports museum. The roof design that covers all the seats has also been set up. The stadium will also host the 2019 World Athletics Championships. The construction work of the stadium was filled with controversies after a British worker fell to his death at the stadium. There also been a huge negative criticism about the ill treatment that has been done to the migrant workers.
