In recent developments of the FIFA fiasco going on for quite some time now centering the corruption charges, presidential candidate prince Ali has churned up fresh controversies. The 40 year old from Jordan has been quoted as saying that the election that will held on the 26th of February will be the “the last chance to get it right” for FIFA. He further added that if he is not elected then that will lead to a “catastrophe’ for the organization. Ali believes that, he is the only man in the race who can restore the current scenario and get things going in the right way. The other contestants for the top job are Gianni Infantino, Tokyo Sexwale, Jerome Champagne and Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim al-Khalifa.

“It would be a catastrophe for the organisation if things do not go the right way,” – Prince Ali

Ali’s last race was in the last election in May against Blatter. However, he opted out of the race after he was lagging at 133-73 to Blatter after the first round of voting. Things changed when, Blatter, who had been president of FIFA since 1998, announced that he would stand down. He was then banned for eight years from contesting after an investigation held by FIFA’s ethics committee.

“You have to be a hands-on president, with a proper CEO. You do need to have proper leadership and somebody who takes responsibility, which we have not seen in the past.”- Prince Ali

Among the proposals that Ali made, he wants to incorporate stringent rules for world cup bidding. He would like to opt for the ones that are similar to what is used for the International Olympic Committee. Ali also showed his disinterest in the support of committee members not travelling to bidding nations. He was quoted as saying:

“I don’t think it is correct, for example, for executive committee members to travel to bidding nations.”

He was also very keen to lend hi support in favour of England’s football association and the other home nations. He said that, it was important because English football follows a moral aspect and the positions that they have taken in the past stands testimony to that. He also said that People all over the world have respect for English football and the way they care about the bigger cause. These are some of the latest international sports updates.
