Premier League: Manchester City crush Arsenal 3-0 amid worrying injury to Eric Garcia

XtraTime Web Desk: Manchester City announced their return to Premier League with a thumping 3-0 win over Arsenal at the Etihad stadium on Wednesday night. The Premier League returned to action after a forced break of almost 100 days due to coronavirus pandemic. Raheem Sterling, Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden scored for the hosts. The win took City to 60 points from 29 matches while Arsenal has 40 from the same number of matches.

Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno produced some outstanding saves in the first half to keep City at bay but a defensive lapse from David Luiz helped Raheem Sterling give a 1-0 lead at the stroke of half time. Kevin de Bruyne double the lead for City from penalty.

With 2-0 ahead Manchester City defender Eric Garcia was involved in a nasty injury as he collided with his own goalkeeper Ederson. The injury seemed serious as it needed lengthy treatment from medical staff. He had to be eventually stretchered out with a in a neck brace.

Phil Foden tripled the lead in the injury time after coming on as a substitute.

This win will give Pep Guardiola’s side the much needed confidence ahead of the Round 16 clash against Real Madrid in Champions League.
