Premier League: Liverpool suffer humiliating 7-2 defeat against Aston Villa, Spurs rout 10-man United 6-1

XtraTime Web Desk: Super Sunday saw goals galore in Premier League as both Liverpool and Manchester United suffered huge defeats against Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspurs respectively. Dean Smith’s side demolished the reigning champions 7-2 at Villa Park while the Red Devils were humiliated 1-6 at the hands of Spurs. The result sees Villa climbing to the second spot in the league while Manchester United drops to an unfamiliar 16th.

Aston Villa emphatically made it three wins from three in the Premier League season as they thrashed Liverpool 7-2 at Villa Park on Sunday. Ollie Watkins scored a hat-trick (4’,22’ 39’) along with J McGinn (35’) R Barkley (55’) J Grealish (66’,75’). Mo Salah scored the two goals for the champions in the 33rd and 60th minute. The Egyptian also scored his 100th goal in English football.
In another Premier League encounter, hosts Manchester United suffered a 1-6 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspurs. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side was absolutely routed by Jose Mourinho’s side on his return to Old Trafford after getting the sack last December.

United made the perfect start when Bruno Fernandes converted a second-minute penalty but found themselves a goal behind when Tanguy Ndombele and Heung-Min Son turned the game around inside a frantic first seven minutes. United were reduced to 10 men as Anthony Martial was flashed a direct red card for his foul on Erik Lamela in the 28th minute. Spurs took full advantage against a 10-man United as Harry scored his first goal along with Son scoring his second of the match. Both sides went into the breather with United trailing 1-4. Serge Aurier rifled Spurs’ fifth early in the second and Kane added a sixth from the penalty spot 10 minutes from time as Jose Mourinho haunted his former club on his second return to Old Trafford. Spurs climb to fifth in the Premier League – two points behind fourth-place Arsenal.
