However, the Indian team will have their eyes firmly set on gold.
In the other semi-final, defending champions China defeated Japan in a penalty shootout to reach the final. The gold-medal match will therefore be a clash between India and China.
The winner of the final will also earn direct qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, making the match even more significant for both teams.
Meanwhile, India opened their wrestling medal account at the Games. Sunil Kumar won the bronze medal in the men’s Greco-Roman 87kg category after defeating the Philippines’ Kalum Johnson Roberts 9-0.
Sunil dominated the contest from start to finish and did not allow his opponent to score a single point. His comprehensive victory secured India’s first wrestling medal at the ongoing Asian Games.
Sunil had also won a bronze medal at the previous edition of the Asian Games.
