Bengal's Pranati Misses Asian Games Medal, Settles for Sixth Place

XtraTime Webdesk: After placing sixth in the women's artistic gymnastics vault final on Thursday, September 24 in Nagoya, Japan, Bengali gymnast Pranati Nayak was not awarded a medal at the Asian Games 2026.
In the eight-player final, the 31-year-old Indian gymnast from West Bengal achieved 13.100 points. Her two vault attempts earned her 12.900 points each, with an execution score of 8.500 and a difficulty score of 4.4. Her total score was increased by 0.20 points.
Yeo Seojeong of South Korea took home the gold medal with a score of 14.100. An Chang Ok of North Korea won silver with 13.033 points, while Du Siyu of China won bronze with 12.800 points.

Before going to Japan for the tournament, the gymnast from Bengal had also healed from a leg injury. Her sixth-place result was an improvement than her eighth-place performance at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, even though she was unable to win a medal.
