Xtra Time Web Desk : On this day in 2001, Team India clinched one of their greatest ever Test victories against Australia in Kolkata as Sourav Ganguly’s men achieved an impossible win from the jaws of defeat.

Coming into bat first, the mighty Aussies scored a huge 445 in the first innings only to bundle out Team India for 171 in the first innings, and to enforce follow on.

Being put in to follow on, Ganguly’s men probably made the greatest ever comeback in Test cricket’s history and they declared after scoring a massive 657/7, courtesy of a 281 from VVS Laxman and his humongous and historic partnership with Rahul Dravid.

Coming in to bat in the fourth innings with a stiff target of 384, it was Harbhajan Singh’s magic hat-trick with the red cherry which led Team India to an impossible 171 run victory over Steve Waugh’s Australia to end their long unbeaten run in Test cricket.
