Xtra Time Web Desk: Iconic Eden Gardens over the years have witnessed many milestones and records but none could match the epic partnership between VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid. Exactly 20 years ago on this day the duo stitched a 376-run stand in the 2nd Test against Australia at the iconic venue to script a miraculous comeback win.

The 2001 Test between India and Australia witnessed one of the best comebacks in Test cricket history to date. And it was scripted by two of India's best batsmen in the longest format - VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Steve Waugh-led Australia posted a mammoth first-innings total of 445, despite India's Harbhajan Singh getting a hat-trick. In reply, the hosts led by Sourav Ganguly were bowled out for 171 and were asked to follow-on.

India got off to a better start in the second innings, reaching 254 for four at stumps on Day 3. Laxman was batting on 109 runs and Dravid remained unbeaten on 7. By the end of the Day 4, the pair was not separated as Laxman was 275 not out and Dravid 155 not out. The partnership turned the tide of the match as the duo added 376-more runs between.

Laxman was eventually dismissed on Day 5, smashing 281 runs before getting out to Glenn McGrath. Dravid was run out for 180, as India declared for 657/7, handing a target of 384 for the visitors to chase.

On the final day of the Test, Australia was bowled out for 212 in the final session of the test match, as India pulled off a miraculous 171-run win.
