In a thrilling encounter  in the Indira Gandhi stadium  North East United edged past Mumbai FC by two solitary goals.Bruno Arias and DiomansyKamara were the scorers for  the Guwahati based franchise.North East United moved a place higher in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2015 standings.The win takes them a point clear of David Platt’s Pune FC  with three games left. It was a do or die game for both the teams.For Mumbai Nicolas Anelka made a lot of changes to the team after their 7-0 thrashing in the previous game against FC Goa.On the other hand Cesar Farias  changed seven players for the last game.Backed by a huge number of supporters North East were pressing from the kick off.Anelka played as a lone striker with Chhetri and Saran Singh operating from both wings.Both the teams preferred to keep possession in the first  half.Mumbai could easily  have gone 1-0 up but the ISL’s top scorer sent his header over.The home side were finally rewarded when Seityasen Singh was brought down inside the penalty box and the referee did not hesitated to give a penalty.Bruno Herreo slotted home  from the spot kick into the right.The second half started with Mumbai pressing from the starting.Anelka and Chhetri combined well after the restart.Anelka could have equalized later  when Mumbai had  their best chance but he wasted it.Simao proved to be a super sub again when Kamara scored from his freekick due to some shoddy defending by the Mumbai defenders.Simao could have provided his second assist of the game when his free-kick was headed in by Cedric Hengbart, but the defender’s goal was ruled out for offside. For Cesar Farias it was the ultimate revenge of their 5-1 thrashing in the hand of the Mumbai fc.For Anelka , he has to start from the scratch.
