XtraTime Web Desk: West Indies ace batsman Chris Gayle who earlier said, that he would retire from international cricket after their home series against India, but surprisingly he hasn’t been selected in the Windies squad for the two match Test series which will start from August 22 in Antigua.

Gayle had earlier stated that he would retire from international cricket after the World Cup 2019 but later backtracked his plans and said he would want to turn up for the Windies one last time in the home series against India.

"It's still not the end. I still have a few games to go. May be another series to go, as well. Who knows, we will see what happens. My plans after World Cup? I may play a Test match against India and then I will definitely play the ODIs against India. I won't play the T20s. That's my plan after the World Cup," Gayle said.

Gayle had an underwhelming World Cup 2019 where he could amass just 242 runs in 8 innings, averaging at a rate of 30. He continued his poor form in the first ODI match of the 3-match series against India as he could manage just 4 runs from the bat.

West Indies on Saturday named a 13-men squad for the two-match Test series against India. Off-spinner Rahkeem Cornwall earned his maiden call up to the West Indies side.

Cornwall made his first-class debut in 2014 and has 260 wickets from 55 first-class matches.

The rest of the West Indies Test squad, barring Alzarri Joseph and slow left-armer Jomel Warrican, is similar to the one that registered a 2-1 series win over England earlier this year. Joseph was excluded from the squad as he is still recovering from a injury.

The right-arm pacer was in action in the IPL 2019 where he picked up a record-breaking 6 for 12 on debut for Mumbai Indians before being ruled out of the tournament due to an injury to his right arm.
