Kolkata : New Zealand were 21 for two in their first innings in reply to India’s 316 all out at lunch on the second day the second cricket Test at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

After five overs, the Kiwis are two down at lunch and are under serious pressure. No signs of spin as the pacers hit the right areas. Will be interesting to see how Ashwin and Jadeja operate on a surface that doesn’t have much of spin in it.

Earlier today India were all out for 316 in their first innings.  Cheteshwar  Pujara (87) top-scored for India while Wriddhiman Saha remained unbeaten on 54. Saha was determined and recorded a fine fifty with a wonderful six, in what is considered to be one of his top knocks in Test cricket by many. Shami too made a notable contribution to give India a good total on the board.

Brief Scores:

India 1st innings: 316 all out in 104.5 overs.

(Cheteshwar Puajra 87, Ajinkya Rahane 77; Wriddhiman Saha 54 not out; Matt Henry 3/46, Trent Boult 2/46).

New Zealand: 21 for two in 5 overs (Martin Guptill 15; Mohammad Shami 1/4, Bhuvneshwar Kumar 1/13)
