Nagjee Trophy : Dnipro Become The First Team To Qualify For Semis

Argentina U’23 side virtually out of Nagjee Trophy .

 

Internet Desk : The Argintina U’23 side suffered it’s second successive defeats today at the Nagjee Trophy as they lost 0-2 to Ukranian side Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk at the kozhikode EMS corporation Stadium. The Argentine team were handed a severe defeat by TSV 1860 Munchen in the last match .

The first half started with both teams getting early chances. An acrobatic effort from Pedro Sosa in the 30th minute just went wide. The Argentine side  showed an intent from the start following the loss  in the first match. For the first quarter  the Latin Americans  looked the more dangerous side but due to some tight defense from Dnipro defenders they couldn’t take the lead. Two teams went into the break with the scoreline 0-0.

Denys Balaniuk seemed to have almost gave the lead to the Ukrainian side after the break  but a brilliant tackle from Argentine defender Gonzalo paz thwart the danger. Both teams had their chances but couldn’t convert it into goals. Argentine keeper Ferrero pulled off a brilliant save in the 81st minute to keep them alive in the tournament.  At the 86th minutes referee ruled out Kiryeyev’s goal for offside. Yuri Vakulko scored in the injury time to give Dnipro the all important lead. At the dying minutes of the match Kiryeyev sealed the match with an excellent goal. The victory puts Dnipro almost a place in the semi finals. On the other hand the Argentines have to win their remaining match to stay in the hunt.
