XtraTime Web Desk: Former India captain MS Dhoni has started his much anticipated training with the Territorial Army on Wednesday. Dhoni who has taken a two-month break from cricket has joined his duty in Kashmir. The former skipper of Indian cricket team will serve the country as a part of Victor Force till August 15.
“Dhoni’s 15-day duty period with his unit 106 TA Battalion (Para) begins today,” an army officer was quoted as saying. The 38-year-old is honorary Lieutenant Colonel in Territorial Army unit of the Parachute Regiment (106 Para TA battalion). He was awarded this honor along with Abhinav Bindra and Deepak Rao by Indian Army in 2011.
Dhoni became a qualified paratrooper in 2015 after having completed five parachute training jumps from Indian Army aircraft in the Agra training camp.
Ever since the conclusion of 12th edition of ICC Cricket World Cup, there has been a lot of speculations around Dhoni’s retirement, but the team management asked him to hang around for some time as they nurture Pant with an eye on T20 World Cup next year.
