Internet Desk: India’s ODI and T20I skipper, MS Dhoni launched the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) trophy at a city hotel, at Chennai in a sparkling ceremony on Thursday in the presence of TNCA president N Srinivasan.
Many dignitaries had joined the said ceremony which comprised of TNPL chairman PS Raman, BCCI treasurer Haryana Cricket Association president Anirudh Chaudhry , Hyderabad Cricket Association president Arshad Ayub, Kerala Cricket Association president TC Mathew and Cricket Association of Bengal treasurer Biswarup Dey. During the event, India Cements had been named as the official sponsor of the inaugural edition of the tournament.
The ceremony also had all the skippers and the owners of the eight TNPL franchises –Albert Tuti Patriots, Chepauk Super Gillies, Lyca Kovai Kings, Madurai Super Giants, Ruby Kanchi Warriors, VB Thiruvallur Veerans, Dindigul Dragons and Karaikudi Kaalai – in the middle of inharmonious acclaim from the audience.
However, Dhoni was the showstopper in the event as he got the loudest cheers from the crowd. The finest skipper of India enjoyed a lot of success for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), leading the team to IPL triumph twice. Srinivasan said Dhoni is the best person to launch the TNPL trophy.
