Kolkata: After a long span of 35 years, Mohun Bagan’s floodlight will be inaugurated on 25th February by State Government Sports Minister, Mr. Aroop Biswas. On the same day, Mohun Bagan will play their U-19 IFA Shield match against DSK Liverpool FCI Academy under lights. Today the testing was done for the same.

Earlier, 35 years ago, Indian Chamber of Commerce inaugurated the flood lights on occasion of a Mohun Bagan vs FC Tatabanya match but the officials failed to maintain it and those lights became useless. Then Mohun Bagan officials handed it over to the then State Government. But the then State Government also did not take any measures to maintain it too. The present ruling party took an initiative to light up the floodlights and they did it. Mohun Bagan Secretary, Anjan Mitra later quoted as saying, “As we have told earlier, The next season’s CFL matches will be played in our home ground under lights.”
